Amidst our celebration, as we wholeheartedly embrace the theme of "Engaging Women in Mitigating Climate Change & Building Climate Resilience" for Women in Engineering Day 2023, we acknowledge the essential role of women in combating climate change.
Floods radiate methane, a potent greenhouse gas, from waterlogged rice paddies. However, they also wreak devastation on infrastructure, crops, and livelihoods, leaving the nation vulnerable to the adverse consequences of climate change. To combat these challenges, acute action on alleviation and adaptation is vital to build solidity and safeguard against the escalating influences of climate change.
Considering that, IEEE NSU SB Women In Engineering Affinity Group, in collaboration with IEEE NSU Robotics and Automation Society Student Branch Chapter, has envisioned an incredible one-day hands-on workshop named "Climate Resilient Horizons: Extending Flood Detection for a Sustainable Future."
This workshop introduces participants to a hardware project that can detect flood indications beforehand, enabling early warning systems. Its cost-effectiveness and relevancy in today's world hold enormous prospects for making a positive impact. By empowering participants with the skills and knowledge to deploy such early warning systems, this workshop strives to create a ripple consequence of optimistic change.
