Webinar on “Coordinated strategy for multiple air- drones for parcel delivery in urban environment”
IEEE NSU Robotics and Automation Society Student Branch Chapter (IEEE RAS SBC) successfully organized a Webinar on “Coordinated strategy for multiple air- drones for parcel delivery in urban environment” in collaboration with IEEE North South University Student Branch (INSB) on Sunday, 25th July 2021.
The keynote speaker was Dr. Jawhar Ghommam, who is the full Professor at National Institute of Applied Science and Technology (INSAT-Tunis) and also, he is an Associate Researcher at GREPCI, Ecole de Technologie Superieure, Montreal, Canada.
At first, our host, Tanha Ahmed Nijhum, welcomed the gathering and introduced the instructor to them. Forty-two students from the ECE department and students from other universities participated in the Webinar to encourage themselves on one of the many scientific and technological challenges towards the future of delivery service in urban environments using drones.
Our participants learned about Oman Shores’ oil detection and spill containment, many applications for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) for transporting packages, medical supplies, and end-to-end delivery. Dr. Jawhar also explained the several challenges Drone Delivery is facing. We could see that many participants started asking many questions to our speakers and observing their questions and responses during his explanation. It was clear how practical this session was for everyone. After finishing the discussion, Tanha again took the place and read out all the questions, and our speaker explained all the questions. At this time, our speaker shared his own opinions to answer several types of questions.
In the end, Dr. Lamia Iftekhar, Faculty Advisor, IEEE NSU RAS SBC, thanked all the participants and especially our speaker Dr. Jawhar for his valuable time and sharing such a great topic with us. This session encourages our participants to unlock new thoughts and arise some new ideas
