Distinguished Lecture on Grid Modernization: Technological Innovations Beyond Smart Grid
IEEE North South University (NSU) Student Branch, Bangladesh and IEEE Multimedia University (MMU) Student Branch, Malaysia are two of the vibrant Student Branches across Region 10, collaborating with their respective PES Student Branch Chapters to organize a PES Distinguished Lecture on Grid Modernization: Technological Innovations Beyond Smart Grid. This event is being supported by the IEEE PES Chapters Student Activities Committee – PES CSAC.
PES Distinguished Lecture Program is a worldwide program that provides lectures, in-person and through webinar format. The lecturers are well-known Power Engineering engineers who have been working in their specialized areas for a long time. Apart from their technical expertise they have been actively volunteering for PES through various Chapter relevant roles locally, regionally or at the governing board of the society. For this special event, we have the honor to have John McDonald, who is an IEEE PES Distinguished Lecturer since 1999. The topic of his lecture will be: Grid Modernization: Technological Innovations Beyond Smart Grid.
The topic of his lecture will be: Grid Modernization: Technological Innovations Beyond Smart Grid.
This lecture will introduce attendees to a vision for Grid Modernization, with an emphasis on technical developments beyond Smart Grid. Discussions of major industry/societal trends, Smart Grid ideas, holistic solutions, integration of microgrids and distributed generation, and Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) software applications are among the technological advancements. The presentation will also address feeder automation business models, data management, big data, analytics, enterprise data management, Smart Grid standards and interoperability, Smart Grid implementations and lessons gained.
At the end of the Lecture, we will be having an exciting “bonus” segment for the Audience. Mr. McDonald will be addressing the questions related to Volunteerism, Career Development, Leadership, etc.
